What a great past two weeks! Wednesday March 9 I had a glorious walk with the AWC around and through Winchester (the famous cathedral). Friday an Indian born friend of mine, Geeta Lloyd from the AWC took me on a tour of the Indian section of London, Southhall around Uxbridge including grocery stores, hardware stores, sweet shops and an amazing Indian lunch. http://travel2.nytimes.com/2006/01/29/travel/29dayout.html
Saturday Carlyn and I had theater tickets for the reprisal of “Equus” in the West End staring Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter to most everyone). The production was amazing and Carlyn and I had no problem giving a standing ovation to the cast. http://www.equustheplay.com/home/index.php
Sunday my cousin Amy Reed and her husband Ben arrived. They arrived early and after a proper English tea and a three hour nap they were ready to see the sights. While they were here we did the Tour of London, The National Gallery, Trafalgar Square, Stonehenge, Salisbury, Windsor Castle, (http://www.royal.gov.uk/output/page557.asp) Eton College, Westminster Abby, the changing of the guards, shopping at Harrods’s and we were always able to squeeze in a pub lunch.
We also enjoyed a copious Mussel dinner at the Bridge Pub and Restaurant and typical Indian meal in Barnes. Lots of walking, trains, buses, running….Ben and Amy took some amazing postcard quality pics and the weather was AMAZING! We had highs of around 60 everyday with sun. Ben was able to get a run in daily including his first run which turned into around six miles because of getting a bit lost around the river Thames.
They were here during Comic relief, a UK charity which includes a telethon and red nose day where you can donate 1 pound and receive a red nose for comic relief. http://www.rednoseday.com/. They left Friday to return to their adorable two year old Chandler who was staying with Mimi and Pappa in Clifton (my Aunt Tanya and Uncle Charles).
